How To Give Yourself SLACK When You Are Feeling Life’s Pressures

We can’t control what stressors come our way, but we can better manage how we react to them.

In this exercise, I am going to give you some SLACK which is my 5-step process for moving you from feeling pressured to purposeful in minutes.

You can use this anytime stress strikes.

Our society tells us to keep calm and carry on but that usually means you are suppressing feeling and overriding them.

Your feelings are important. They matter.

They are telling you something that is happening is not aligned with your heart.

So when stress strikes and you get upset, give yourself some SLACK…

First STOP….. Give yourself the time and space to feel what you are feeling.

This is an opportunity to notice what your feelings are telling you that you need right now and this could profoundly change your life for the better!

LOOK at what is happening as an observer versus an actor in your drama with curiosity.

Think to yourself….Hmmmm what just happened that is making me feel upset? What are the facts about the situation? What is this situation showing me that I need right now?
You might be curious and ponder this for a bit.

ACKNOWLEDGE your feelings.

Name the feeling. Is it anxiety, worry, doubt, frustration, pressure, anger? Where do you feel it in your body?

CARE for your feelings.

Self soothe—the most effective way I have found for doing this is energy moving exercises.
Tapping specific Meridian and chakra points moves energy AND helps you more easily process your emotions.
The last step in my SLACK Process is...

Take KINESTHETIC action.

Do something that helps you feel better physically.
Do something that helps you feel empowered, peaceful, or inspired.
Examples:
Take a bike ride or a walk in nature.
Dance or listen to a favorite song.
Draw or paint.
Read an inspiring book you love or watch one of your favorite movies.

So let’s do it!...

Meridian Anxiety Calming Evening Routine

This calming routine comes from acupuncturist, Peter Deadman.

Simply rub then hold the points I walk you through in the video below until you feel pulses in each point, or until you feel your body exhale or release.

As you do this regularly, you can feel pulses or a release faster and faster.

You are training your body to relax and move into a parasympathetic, restive, and restorative state.

Notice your stress level and tension in your body before and  after you do the exercise.
